FROM THE DARK

A shiver in the atmosphere
Am I alone in here?
Who waits on my doorstep in the night,
Sits at my table without invite?

How can I trust
I’m safe when we depart
When I know
He watches from the dark

A tick, a scab, a painless thing
The hart aware
Of what the arrow brings
The hunter’s blade peels away
The hardened skin
I wear by day
To fill a brimming red mouth
Desperate and raw
With my own tender self

I want to sleep without a knife
Open palmed, all alone
And only mine

How can I trust
I’m safe within these walls
No matter what
He calls, he calls, he calls

HONEY’D DREAMS

Tell me how
You came to dance among the other crowd.
Strangely stood the hazel wood,
All gold and greenly boughed.
Countless fingers,
Silver threaded tongues,
Woven where the river runs.

Did you fear
The passage of the evening as a year?
Goodly friends have met their ends
Since last you did appear.
Elfen cups
Unfurling in the gloam
Style mold across the tomb.

From the well
Fill the glass,
Through the stones
Safely pass.

Show me where
They fed you poison milk and braided hair.
Violent streams of honey’d dreams
Carried you upon the air.
Come again,
To a land unseen,
All to please your faerie queen!

GIANT’S DAUGHTER

O Mother can you hear me?
I am soft
A dove consumed by thunder

O Mother can you see me?
I am small
dust of storms that crown you

How you move the world beneath me

She walks
Over hills in giant leaps
And says to me…

She cradles
All the valley where I sleep
And sings to me…

She runs
The breadth of seas
Only puddles
Beneath her feet…

Now I hear her
Approach like thunder
With all the comfort
Of mother.

THE ONE WHO BURNS

I’m hungry for
The taste of another life
Where I’m something wild
And fearless of the night

So meet me now
In moonlit sin
My circle drawn
For your conjuring

I give my name
Offer everything I have
Never born to serve
But to spill the blood of man

I hold you close
My strange consort
I am kindling
Will you make your mark?

I won’t deny
It’s what I deserve
Cast my soul aside
I’ll be the one who burns

May churches bow
Towers crumble to the sea
And no man will break
My spell that brings them to their knees

I ask you now
My darkest prince
I’m a blazing pyre
Are you convinced?

You can’t deny
It’s what I have earned
Cast my soul aside
I’ll be the one who burns

I’ll be the one who burns it down.

I’ll be the one who burns it down.

I’ll be the one who burns it down.

I can’t deny
It’s what I deserve
Cast my soul aside
I’ll be the one who burns
